The singer-songwriter, who is active on social media, took to her verified Instagram account on Wednesday, January 27, to share the news that she is expecting a baby.
“Surprise!” captioned by Halsey on her Instagram post along with emojis of a baby bottle, rainbow, and angelic baby.
Halsey proudly posted a series of maternity photos with her wearing a knitted rainbow bikini top for her latest photoshoot, showing her baby bump.
The rainbow top and emoji may be a subtle reminder of her previous pregnancy loss, with the expected child being a “rainbow baby.”
According to Healthline, “rainbow baby” is a term “coined for a healthy baby born after losing a baby due to miscarriage, infant loss, stillbirth, or neonatal death.
Halsey’s pregnancy announcement comes after she miscarried while performing a concert in 2015. Appearing on the daytime talk show “The Doctors” in 2018, the singer opened up her traumatic experience about her miscarriage, revealing that she suffered the loss while on stage before she had even fully processed what she was expecting. Halsey also shared that she suffers from a condition called endometriosis— a health condition that affects the uterus and undergoes surgery for it in 2017.
She also said in an interview with “The Guardian” in February 2020 that she had a pleasing prognosis then, fortunately, which made her hopeful that she would become a mother—and now she will be.
She did not directly share the father’s identity, but Halsey tagged her boyfriend, screenwriter- producer Alev Aydin. Not long after, Aydin then commented, “Heart so full, I love you, sweetness.” Halsey then replied, “I love you!!!!! And I love this mini human already!” The producer also shared her announcement to his Instagram stories, along with two heart emojis.
According to People Magazine, Halsey, 26, and Aydin, 37, have been dating for several months and have kept their relationship mostly private.
