Team Philippines makes history, get gold and silver medals at the first int’l nuclear olympiad

The Philippine flag waved joyfully as three Filipino students claimed their awards at the first International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO) held Aug 1-6 at the National Government Administrative Center in Capas, Tarlac.

Bagging the gold were Mohammad Nur G. Casib of the Philippine Science High School – Central Mindanao Campus and Neil Kyle O. Maniquis of the Manila Science High School. Winning the silver was Jeremiah E. Auza of the Philippine Science High School – Central Visayas Campus.

Casib also placed top in the theoretical exam and overall exam, earning him the title “Nuclear Ambassador.” 

In total, 37 out of the 55 participants received medals: 8 golds, 13 silvers, and 16 bronzes.

The INSO takes its place in history being the very first nuclear olympiad in the world, and the very first Olympiad hosted by the Philippines.
