“DO NOT BE FOOLED”: PRESIDENTIAL DAUGHTER BRIEFS PUBLIC ABOUT FUNDRAISING USING HER NAME

Written by Marty Bernales

Incumbent Davao City Mayor and Presidential daughter Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio warns the public in an uploaded short video on Thursday, January 28, not to be fooled by the solicitations that were said to aid her rumored presidential bid in 2022.

Duterte-Carpio referred to this fundraising as a “fraud” and a “scam”. She denied the authenticity of the said fundraising and urged the public not to donate any amount of money.

“Nakarating po sa akin ang balita na may mga indibidwal na humihingi ng pera sa ibang tao at iba’t ibang grupo, kabilang na ang mga negosyante, para daw gawing campaign funds sa aking pagtakbo bilang presidente. Wala po itong pahintulot mula sa akin. Huwag po kayong maniwala, huwag po kayong magbigay,” said Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio in the video which was uploaded online by her office.

(It has come to my attention the news that there were individuals who are soliciting money from the people, and some are businessmen for funding my presidential bid. I did not allow this practice. Do not be fooled, do not donate.)

The mayor also encouraged the public to seek help from the authorities whenever they are approached by these individuals soliciting in her name.

“Maaari po ninyong i-report ang mga ganitong aktibidad sa pinakamalapit na himpilan ng pulis. Maraming salamat po,” the mayor said.

(You can report these activities to the nearest police station. Thank you very much.)

Mayor Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio has already made clear to the public that she has no intention regarding the presidency. She even asked the polling entities not to include her name in the choices of the possible next Philippine leader.

The mayor topped the early 2021 Pulse Asia Survey with a 26% rating, ahead of both Senator Grace Poe and former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. which rated 14% apiece.

It can be remembered that Mayor Duterte-Carpio’s father and current Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has asked her daughter not to join the presidential race in 2022. He particularly stated that he does not want her daughter to be the president so that the younger Duterte would not experience what he has experienced during his time in presidency.

“My daughter, inuudyok naman nila, sabi ko ‘My daughter is not running.’ I have told Inday not to run kasi naaawa ako sa dadaanan niya na dinaanan [ko],” the president said after her daughter has already shied away from the presidency.

(They are encouraging my daughter again. I already said, my daughter is not running. I have told Inday not to run because I pity her experiencing what I have been through.)

Furthermore, the Philippine leader has clearly iterated that the presidency is not fit for women, which sparked controversies across the nation.

“This is not for women. You know, the emotional setup of a man and a woman is different. It will drive you nuts. This is a sad story,” Pres. Duterte added.
