Olivia Rodrigo releases the new song ‘Deja Vu,’ and music video. Filipino-American singer Olivia Rodrigo has released the follow-up single to her record-breaking track “Drivers License.”

After teasing and keeping fans guessing over the weekend by clearing out all her Instagram posts, Olivia Rodrigo revealed what the post was about: the release of her new song, ‘Deja Vu.’

“My new song deja vu is out Thursday at 9 am pst,” she wrote across her social media accounts on Monday afternoon (March 29). While the song’s April 1 release date could raise some eyebrows, Rodrigo added, “I promise it’s not an April fools joke lol.”

After making headlines on Sunday for wiping her Instagram clean ahead of the song announcement, it appears that Rodrigo has added some of those old posts back into her feed.

The 18-year-old High School Musical: The Musical: The Series star wrote the track a month after writing the viral hit “drivers license,” which spent eight weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100. Both tracks will be featured on Olivia Rodrigo’s debut album, out May 21.

“The concept of déjà vu has always fascinated me and I thought it would be cool to use it in a song around the complex feelings after a relationship ends,” says Rodrigo in a release.

“I started writing and recording ‘deja vu’ last fall and had so much fun creating the different melodies and sonic textures that you hear throughout.”

“Deja Vu” is about car rides, Billy Joel, and…a message for an ex and his new girlfriend.

Just the day of its release, the song fastly attracted early interest on the sales and streaming fronts, taking #15 on the US Spotify chart for Thursday (despite the abbreviated release window) and making the Top 10 on the US iTunes sales chart.
