Sarangani Bay conservation took center stage as the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 12 and key stakeholders convened to strengthen protection efforts for the Sarangani Bay Protected Seascape.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 12 along with the Protected Area Management Board of Sarangani Bay Protected Seascape (PAMB-SBPS) and industries surrounding the Sarangani Bay convened on Thursday (Mar. 5) to discuss the shared responsibility of preserving the protected seascape.
Organized by the Protected Area Management Office (PAMO) for the 30th anniversary of the SBPS, this year’s Stakeholders Summit empowered PA users to address environmental challenges and reaffirmed their responsibility for the bay’s sustainable use and continued economic benefits.

The event provided technical briefings on maritime and oil spill response preparedness, the application process for Special Use Agreements in Protected Areas (SAPA), and strategies for scaling up Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to benefit both the community and the environment.
The summit also served as a feedback mechanism for the DENR to evaluate policy implementation, ensuring a balanced approach between conservation mandates and regional development within the SBPS.

It was graced by ARD for Technical Services Engr. Mama G. Samaon, ARD for Management Services Maria Elvira V. Lumayag, PENR Officer Shalimar A. Disomangcop, and attended by some PAMB members, PA users, and DENR-12 officials and employees.
