After a long lockdown due to the pandemic, Smart Araneta Coliseum, also known as ‘The Big Dome,’ is set to open again. Its comeback date will be on January 17, 2021, with the highly awaited Wish 107.5 Music Award.
The sixth yearly Wish Music Awards will be live-streamed from the Smart Araneta Coliseum and hosted by Gretchen Ho and Christian Bautista.
Since Wish FM will hold it in the middle of a pandemic, the live audience is prohibited from gathering as it is stated on the latest quarantine restriction that mass gathering is still not allowed.
Despite that, the audience will still see it because they are given a chance to view it via Wish 107.5’s official Youtube channel.
More than 200 chosen people and entertainers will be present at the Big Dome for Sunday’s celebration.
The list of entertainers includes Asia’s Soul Supreme KZ Tandingan, hip-hop phenomenon Gloc-9, P-Pop breakthrough SB19, folk-pop band Ben&Ben, Filipino musician Reese Lansangan, singer-songwriter Clara Benin, singer Keiko Necesario, pop band Music Hero, rising rapper Michael Pacquiao, pop duo Leanne & Naara, vocal group The Wisfuls, iconic OPM band Parokya ni Edgar with singer-songwriter Guy Sebastian.
Winners from 20 categories will be named, including the newly- created and timely Best Quarantine- Produced Song that perfectly illustrates some of the most common quarantine moods, feelings, and circumstances that almost all can relate to, which recognizes OPM artists “who have challenged the limitations brought forth by the pandemic to come up with a fresh release that best resonates with people during these challenging times.”
The winners will be determined based on public voting and the decision of a panel of judges.
The last stage event held at Smart Araneta Coliseum before the Covid- 19 pandemic started was in March 2020.
