Durian McFlurry is bringing a taste of Mindanao to McDonald’s Philippines’ Christmas menu, introducing a limited-time dessert inspired by one of the region’s most recognizable fruits. Available at participating McDonald’s branches across Mindanao, the new flavor combines creamy vanilla soft serve with a white chocolate-based durian-flavored mix-in, giving customers a regional twist on the popular frozen dessert.
McDonald’s Philippines is bringing a distinctly Mindanao flavor to its Christmas menu with the launch of its new Durian McFlurry, a limited-time dessert that gives the country’s iconic fruit a place in the fast-food chain’s holiday lineup.
Introduced on November 3, 2026, the new flavor is part of McDonald’s Philippines’ “McDo Muna” Christmas campaign. Unlike the company’s other seasonal McFlurry offerings, the Durian variant is exclusively available at participating McDonald’s restaurants in Mindanao.
The launch puts the spotlight on a fruit closely associated with the region, particularly Davao City, where durian has become an important part of the local food culture and agricultural identity.
For Mindanao customers, the new dessert offers an opportunity to enjoy a familiar regional flavor in a different form.
McDonald’s Gives Its McFlurry a Durian-Inspired Twist
The new Durian McFlurry combines McDonald’s creamy vanilla soft serve with a white chocolate-based durian-flavored mix-in.
The combination brings together the sweetness of vanilla ice cream and the distinctive flavor associated with durian, a fruit known for its strong aroma and rich, creamy texture.
Durian has long been one of the most recognizable fruits in Mindanao. Its popularity is particularly evident in Davao, where the fruit is sold in public markets, roadside stalls and specialty food shops during harvest periods.
By introducing a durian-inspired dessert, McDonald’s is incorporating a regional favorite into a familiar international fast-food product.
However, the company’s product description identifies the ingredient as a durian-flavored mix-in. It does not establish that the dessert contains fresh durian pulp.
Why the Durian Flavor Is Exclusive to Mindanao
The decision to make the Durian McFlurry available exclusively in Mindanao gives the seasonal product a distinct regional identity.
Davao is widely associated with durian production and consumption, with the fruit forming part of the city’s culinary reputation. It is also commonly featured in local delicacies, including candies, pastries, ice cream and other desserts.
Durian’s association with Mindanao makes it a natural choice for a regional food offering.
Rather than introducing another conventional chocolate or fruit-flavored dessert, McDonald’s has chosen an ingredient that many residents already recognize as part of their local food culture.
The move also gives customers outside Mindanao a reason to take notice of a product that is not included in the chain’s nationwide dessert lineup.
Whether the flavor will eventually be introduced in other parts of the Philippines has not been announced.
Three Holiday McFlurry Flavors Join the Christmas Menu
The Durian McFlurry is one of three limited-time flavors introduced for the 2026 Christmas season.
The other varieties feature combinations inspired by familiar dessert ingredients.
Ube with Oreo McFlurry
This flavor combines McDonald’s vanilla soft serve with ube-flavored syrup and crushed Oreo pieces. It brings together the familiar taste of purple yam and the chocolate cookie’s crunchy texture.
Choco Pinipig McFlurry
The Choco Pinipig variant features a milk chocolate mix-in and Filipino-style crunchy rice crispies, combining chocolate sweetness with a crispy texture.
Durian McFlurry
Exclusive to Mindanao stores, this variant features a white chocolate-based durian-flavored mix-in blended with vanilla soft serve.
Together, the three flavors offer customers different combinations of familiar and Filipino-inspired ingredients during the holiday season.
McDonald’s Also Introduces Holiday Food Deals
Aside from the new desserts, McDonald’s Philippines has added Sweet BBQ Chicken McDo to its seasonal menu.
The offering features fried bone-in chicken coated in a sweet, tangy and smoky barbecue glaze.
Customers can also take advantage of two advertised holiday promotions running from November 3 to December 3, 2026.
The Double Holiday McFlurry deal is priced at ₱109, while a one-piece Sweet BBQ Glazed Chicken McDo meal with rice, a drink and one Holiday McFlurry is offered for ₱179.
According to the company’s promotional announcement, these deals are available through the McDonald’s App and can be redeemed through eligible dine-in, takeout and drive-thru transactions.
The seasonal products are also being offered through McDelivery and third-party delivery platforms, subject to participating locations and availability.
Customers should check their preferred branch or delivery application for current product availability and applicable promotional conditions.
A Regional Favorite Gets a Place in the Holiday Menu
The introduction of the Durian McFlurry highlights how familiar regional flavors can find new expressions through mainstream food offerings.
For Davao and the wider Mindanao region, durian is more than an unusual fruit. It is part of a food identity recognized throughout the Philippines.
Its use in a McDonald’s seasonal dessert brings that identity into a product format familiar to consumers across different age groups.
The launch also adds a regional dimension to the company’s broader Christmas campaign, which features Filipino-inspired flavors alongside its seasonal chicken offering.
While the Durian McFlurry is currently a limited-time product, its introduction gives Mindanao customers a dessert option that stands apart from the usual McFlurry selection.
For those who enjoy durian, the new offering provides another way to experience the region’s beloved fruit. For others, it may be an opportunity to try one of Mindanao’s most recognizable flavors in a familiar ice cream dessert.
For now, the Durian McFlurry remains a Mindanao-exclusive addition to McDonald’s 2026 Christmas menu, putting a regional favorite in the spotlight during the country’s busiest holiday season.
